Come As You Are

I've been thinking a lot lately about why I have this blog. Do I write so that other people will read it? Do I want them to read it so that they will like me? Or do I write as an outlet just for me? I think it started out as the latter, but then morphed into the other two. That's not what I want. Sure, I'd like people to read it, and sure, I'd like people to like me, but I don't want that to be my motivation. I think blogging has helped me learn more about myself and has allowed others to learn more about me as well.

With the new year upon us, I am hoping that I can make this blog more of what it was started for - my thoughts, ideas, and interests. I think I've been holding back lately because I've thought, "People don't want to read about this. I don't know if I want people seeing that. Etc, etc, etc." That's when I realized I was no longer writing for me.

So, a fair warning: You'll be seeing more posts, more photos, and a whole lot of randomness, but who knows how interesting it all will really be. :-)

Family Blog Private

I'm switching my other blog to "private." If you want to be put on the "allow list," please let me know! You can contact me via e-mail, Facebook, or the comments section of this post. I will make the switch in one week. Just a heads-up! This blog will still stay public.

Mind-Blogging

No, I didn't mean "mind-boggling," although it could be that, too. Mind-blogging. It is the act of going over and over in my mind the things that I think I should blog about. Very rarely do they actually make it onto the internet, but some topics just eat away at me, and I can't stop thinking about them. Most of the time, I think, "Why would anyone want to read about THAT?" Or, "If I wrote about this, would anyone respond, or would I just hear the faint sound of crickets the rest of my blogging days?" These are some of the random topics that have been swimming inside of my brain:

  • My history with alopecia, beginning to end. Well, not end. I'm still living. We'd call it "beginning to present," I guess.
  • How I was so close to being rid of the blue monstrosity that is our Siesta Sack (it's like a Love Sac). My husband and I had a moment of insanity and bought that instead of a loveseat. I don't know what we were thinking.
  • My first time trying to be a thrifty shopper - Coupons!

Those are just a few things. Now that I've got them off my brain, maybe I don't need to go into any more detail. Sorry to bore you even this much. I promise it won't continue.
