The New Year

I've been thinking a lot about resolutions over the last week or so. I don't really like to make resolutions because I never stick with them. I would rather set goals and slowly work toward reaching them as opposed to trying to change a whole bunch of things at once, only setting myself up for failure in the end. These are some things that I hope to accomplish in the coming year:

- Read the Book of Mormon - cover to cover - at least once this year. I am ashamed to say that I have never done that. I'm sure that in all the studying I've done in my life, I've probably read everything in it, but not in order. I figured that if I can read an entire 3-book series in one week (I just finished The Mortal Instruments series), why can't I read a book that my entire faith is based on? This is one goal that I feel is probably the most important one I could set for myself this year.

- Finish up my Family Child Care certification. It seems like there are many things to get done, but they're not hard, so I just need to do it one step at a time.

- Make my home more organized physically. This is going to be very dependent on funds, seeing as how I need lots of shelving and storage containers, but I can make due in the mean time. Until I can acquire those things, I can find a place for everything, regardless of whether or not it's in its permanent home.

- Do more sewing projects. I would really like to make myself a skirt or two, an apron, and maybe some beanbag chairs for the boys.

- Take more photos. Lately it seems like I've just been pulling my camera out for special occasions, and sometimes not even then. I would really like to improve my photography skills, and I can't do that without taking photos.

- On that note, I need to back up my photos regularly. I learned a valuable lesson this last year about how technology can fail me. I don't want that to happen again.

- I would really like to start exercising. Recently I've been realizing just how out-of-shape I'm really in. I'm not fond of running, and I would just waste a gym membership, so I'm trying to come up with things that I would enjoy and be able to stick with. (Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated!)

- Be proactive about getting my hair to grow back. I haven't done any kind of treatment in over six years, and I figured it's time to try something. I can't just keep wishing that it will come back on its own. I don't think that's ever going to happen. I CAN do things that may trigger it wake up and start growing. Here's hoping!

- Be more girlie - wear makeup regularly, paint my nails, wear heels more often, wear fewer sweatshirts and lounge pants. This might sound silly, but I think it would help me feel better about myself. I don't necessarily feel bad about myself, but being in a house full of boys definitely makes me feel less like the "girlie girl" I enjoy being.

I think those are some good goals to start with. Here's to a productive year and the chance to better myself inside and out!

What are your goals for 2011?

Those are all great! Johnny went to a Steven Covey seminar that talked about how to prioritize your time around your values so we are working on getting organized and working around that. So my list is too long to post here, but its mainly getting organized, and working on my weaknesses (which are many). I also need to finish about 42 projects I've started.

Awesome goals Am! Seriously I think my goals are very similar to most of yours! Organization, BofM, More girlie, excercise...etc! Too bad we aren't neighbors to help each other on it all! :) Good luck girl!
