Tithing

My religion is very important to me. It has greatly shaped me into the person I am. I am grateful for the faith it requires of me because it helps me recognize real blessings that come into my life.

I truly know that I am blessed when I pay tithing.

For a few months, now, I have been waiting for my member records to be transferred from my ward in Georgia to my ward here in Colorado. Because of that, I've been hanging onto my monthly tithing, not yet having a bishop to turn it in to. This past Sunday, my husband and I decided that we needed to hand in that money, regardless of when they will get our records. Now, money has been tight for us for a little while, but we have never given it a second thought when it comes to paying the 10% (of our income) we are asked to pay. We know that Heavenly Father will bless us because of our faith and take care of us. Just yesterday, I received two pieces of news that I know are blessings because of paying my tithing...

We have been needing a new carseat for my 11-month-old, but we've been waiting as long as possible to get him a "big kid" seat because we just haven't had the money. Yesterday, a man that works in the same building as my husband was giving away a brand new carseat and offered it to my husband. If that's not a blessing, I don't know what is.

The second piece of news was even more wonderful. Ever since returning from Georgia, my husband has been trying to get his government travel card paid off, but the Air Force has been denying his forms every single time. The card company was going to start deducting the remaining balance from our paycheck until it was paid off. Now, the Air Force was supposed to pay this off in the first place, but every single time Brett submitted the paperwork, there always seemed to be something wrong or missing. They could never tell him what exactly was wrong. Finally, Brett went to some higher-ups that got things straightened out. We found out yesterday that the remaining balance amount was accepted and that it will be paid in full. Not only that, but they approved the amount to be more than what we actually owed on the card and now we'll have a little bit of extra money we can put away for a rainy day.

I know Heavenly Father is watching over me and is mindful of my needs. I know he blesses me for doing the things he asks of me.
