Soundtrack to My Life

DSC_0001

My iTunes library was more extensive than I thought! As I was searching for songs that would be considered "a soundtrack of my life," - not thinking I would actually find any - I couldn't help but laugh at some of the titles I found. Some I chose for just the titles, some I chose for the lyrics, and some I chose because they remind me of a part of my life.

Here's what I came up with:
  • "A Long December" (Counting Crows) - I was born in December, so that is really the only relevance. :-)
  • "Stand" (R.E.M.) - I lived in the same house my entire childhood. I "stood" there for quite a long time!
  • "Unwell" (Matchbox Twenty) - Diagnosed with Alopecia when I was 11.
  • "Grade 9" (Barenaked Ladies) - I was finally getting out of the awfulness that was junior high school.
  • "Be True To Your School" (The Beach Boys) - I loved getting into high school and getting to play lacrosse!
  • "I Don't Want to Miss A Thing" (Aerosmith) - I decided during my junior year of high school that I was going to be as involved in my friends' lives and school as possible. I had nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
  • "When Love & Hate Collide" (Def Leppard) - Had my first break up (I did the dumping) at 18, and the guy actually played this song in the car as he was taking me home. Needless to say, he took it pretty hard.
  • "Gone" ('N Sync) - I went away to school without knowing anyone. It felt really good!
  • "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" (Poison) - Felt the sting of my first heartbreak as a freshman in college. It was for the best, though.
  • "Someday My Prince Will Come" (Snow White) - After my second semester during my sophomore year at college, I realized that I wasn't dating the kinds of guys I really wanted. I wasn't going to settle for anything less than a prince.
  • ...my prince arrived...
  • "A Plain Morning" (Dashboard Confessional) - The lyrics to this song remind me so much of my first week after going out with Brett for the first time. It's definitely not the title that fits this point in my life.
  • "Helplessly, Hopelessly, Recklessly" (Jessica Andrews) - Brett had me hooked. I didn't want to marry anyone but him.
  • "The Prayer" (Celine Dion & Andrea Bocelli) - It was our faith and an answer to a prayer that started us on this crazy time in the Air Force.
  • "A Happy Family" (Children's Church Hymns) - Baby makes three! We were so excited to have our sweet little Brady.
  • "On the Road Again" (Willie Nelson) - The many moves we have made in the 7 1/2 years we've been married.
  • "Can't Get Enough of You, Baby" (Smashmouth) - Baby Eli joins the family and he makes our family complete!

And there you have it! A very loosely-based soundtrack to the life of me!
