Who Dunnit?

DSC_0001

Last week, I finally bit the bullet and planted some flowers in my front flower beds. I'm so glad I decided to do it! I think it really improved the outside of our place, not to mention that it makes it feel more like home.

Well, unbeknownst to me, someone or something has it out for the dusty millers I planted. As you will see in these photos, someone/something didn't care for them very much. When we came outside to leave for church on Sunday morning, Brady noticed that something had happened to the plants.

The dusty millers are completely stripped of the fuzzy leaves. The surrounding flowers were left untouched, though (which I found odd).

For some reason, the majority of the leaves were left on the sidewalk behind my next-door neighbor's car.

I think it was a neighbor kid that destroyed them on Saturday while we were gone all afternoon/evening and we just didn't notice until it was light outside the next morning. Brett "bets his life" (his words, not mine) that it was a bird or other small animal. Maybe only time will tell. I just hope that the plants are able to recover and that I didn't go to all the work of planting them for nothing!
